as you'll read in kathryn's column, my travel schedule is now back in full swing and i want to share a highlight from a recent event...

on friday, january 18th, i spoke at a youth revival in hawthorne, florida.  at the close of the powerful night i had the privilege to issue an invitation.  after a few minutes, there were several students and some adults kneeling down front doing whatever business God had initiated.  as the response time was drawing to a close, a man in his mid-50s came quietly walking up.  he simply stated "i feel dirty." and at that, he prayed and trusted his life to Christ.

as it turns out, he was father to the bass player in the student worship band and there is no telling how many services he had attended in his life, but that was the night God brought him into freedom.

i've had the honor to be at events where upwards of 150 students trusted their lives to Jesus and words can't describe how amazing that is, but knowing the statistics on how unusual it is for a 55 year old male to receive salvation, i was blown away at the power of our God in that singular moment.

since our last correspondence, little nathaniel has transformed from a very colicky baby into a rather enjoyable member of the evans clan.  praise the Lord!!  he is now 7 weeks old and we are settling into a routine which is crucial because john has resumed his hectic traveling schedule. please pray for me as i manage our "circus of love" on limited amounts of sleep.

we have discovered that elijah is quite the nurturing big brother. surprisingly, he is the sibling that will hold nathaniel even if he is crying and has figured out that when he gently rocks his little brother, he is likely to stop crying.  he can't wait until nathaniel is old enough to move from his current bed in the dining room up to share a bedroom together.

layton, our big girl, is growing up.  she just lost her first tooth.  also (without permission) she has discovered she can successfully pick nathaniel up out of his bed and carry him around.

speaking of growing up, cheney, at two and a half years old, is already preparing for marriage and motherhood.  when we go outside to play she picks a bouquet of flowers (weeds) and walks around proclaiming, "i am waiting for my husband."

as yet, nobody has asked when we can send nathaniel back, although cheney did tell our waitress at pizza hut that she would be willing to trade baby brother for a puppy.

a humble request
as our tax receipt letter clearly states, sewing into Kingdom ministry is the most high-yield investment you could ever make!  the changed lives we've witnessed in 2007 will be earning compound interest for eternity!

with that being said, 3degrees ministries needs the assistance of faithful souls like you.  as we close in on our 3rd anniversary, we have literally seen thousands of lives changed in ways that demonstrate the God we serve is The Way to true life and freedom.

over the past several months, we have seen a significant slowing of financial contributions and while my family understands the difficulty of the current economy as well as anyone, the work God has called us to and the fruit from it are more apparent than ever.

we believe that 2008 will surely be the most significant year of ministry we have experienced to date, and at the same time our ministry finances are the tightest they have been in two years.

humbly and simply, we need you to step up and write a check to support the cause of bringing truth, life, and purpose to american youth and young adult culture.

praise God II

here's an email i received a few days ago.  i think it will encourage you.

"dear john, i recently was going through some pretty gnarly doubts about God.  one of my friends gave me your book to read.  i started reading it and everything felt new.  basically through the whole book, i thought you had been watching me and writing it to me that day.  i know that your book has changed my walk with Christ and i know it will change someone else's.  thanks, jennifer"
